Celebrating the Life of Pearlie Lee Taylor
Our family and beloved community was deeply touched by the loss of our matriarch, Mrs. Pearlie Lee Taylor February 11, 2023.
Born Pearlie Lee Mackey on February 5, 1930 to the late Harvey and Pinkie Whitfield Mackey, Sr. in Screven Georgia, the family moved to Pierce County in 1944.
She later joined Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church where she served faithfully on different auxiliaries including Kitchen Club, Senior Mission, Seasonal Teas, and the Senior Usher Board. Until the end of her life, Pearlie Taylor, continued to serve the Lord faithfully as the mother of the church under the leadership and covering of her nephew, Pastor Felton Jones at God’s Tabernacle of Deliverance in Blackshear Georgia.
Pearlie Taylor was affectionately known all over town for the love she expressed through her cooking and baking. In addition to countless meals and desserts she prepared for church, home, family, friends, and strangers alike Mrs. Pearlie worked for over a decade at Carter’s Fried Chicken in Blackshear, Georgia.
Preceding her in death are her parents, sons Charles Latson and Carl Mackey (Dr. Jennifer); daughter Henrietta Williams; daughter in law Debbie Taylor Scott; six sisters Betty Lue, Viola, Ivery Lea, Lucille Good, Geneva NeSmith, and Annie Jane James; two brothers, Harvey and Woodrow Mackey; late husbands Preston Garvin and Willie B. Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her memory brother Theodore Mackey (Pearline), sister Jackoline Blakely; grandchildren Lorita Oliver, Chanala Latson, Kim Sharpe, Tonya Ballard, Ashley Latson, Ena Broady, Carlos Mackey, Carla Willingham, Reggie Mackey, Carlton Mackey, Christian Mackey, and Charity Mackey; sons in law Collaus Taylor (Brenda), Alvin Taylor, and J.D. Taylor; daughters in law Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Taylor Stansell, and Dr. Jennifer Mann-Mackey; God daughter Betty Wiggins; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
