Joan Davis Obituary

Joan Denissa (Necie) Davis, age 58, of Waycross, GA gained her wings on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, after a brief illness. Joan Davis was born October 18,1961 to the late Bettye Davis Philpot and the late Joe Hines Sr.

 

Joan was a 1979 graduate of Patterson High School, in Patterson, Ga. Necie (as most of you knew her) worked for Satilla Health Services of Waycross, Ga for 29 years.  She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Patterson, Ga, under the leadership of Pastor Marcus Nix. Necie was a tremendously devoted member and loved her church.  Necie served in many capacities, she was the Youth Choir Director for several years, a senior choir member and director, she served on the kitchen committee, and assisted with other administrative duties in the church. Necie was also one of the founding members of the Tri-County Mass Choir.

 

Left to cherish her memories are her siblings; Gary Davis (Patterson, GA), her loving twin brother, Joseph (Mary) Davis (Waycross, Ga), Timothy (Tamica) Davis (Washington, DC), Christopher Philpot (Ft. Lauderdale, FL),  Christina (Wilfredo) Ashley (Grovetown, GA), Stephen Philpot (Decatur, GA), Teisha (Marshall) Rainge (Grovetown, GA), Elizabeth Reynolds (Augusta, GA), Jerlean Hines (Jesup, GA), Thelma Hines (Jesup GA), Brenda Hines-Hunter (Enterprise AL),  Joe (Carolyn) Hines (New Castle, DE), Gilbert (Gale) Hines (Jacksonville, FL), Mary (Garry) Minniefield (North Augusta, SC), Chainal Hines (Screven, GA), Tonya Hines (Opelika, AL); Her cousins John Maloy (Atlanta, Ga), and Nichelle Maloy (Atlanta, GA); and a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly as Auntie Nissa.

 

Necie is preceded in death by her mother, Bettye D. Philpot and father Joe Hines, maternal grandmother, Susie (Leroy) Davis, her aunt, Annie Pearl Maloy, her uncle James Leroy Davis, and her nephew Derwin Eugene Davis.
