Mr. Jimmy Lee “JJ” Jefferson transitioned on Sunday, June 16. 2019 at Harborview Satilla in Waycross, GA with his wife at his bedside. “JJ” was born October 13, 1951 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie Lee and Warnell Tillman Jefferson, Sr.
He was educated in the Coffee County School system. He completed his education with the Job Corp in Los Angeles, California. JJ enjoyed fishing and telling jokes with people around him.
In 2005 “JJ” met his sweetheart Geneva smith Knox and they married, January 11, 2013. He was employed with construction groups in Douglas, GA.
Preceded in death other than his parents are his grandparents: Phillip and Naomi Tomblin, and four sisters: Bobbie Jean Tomblin, Jacklyn Tomblin, Freedie Kay Staten, and Kathy Parish.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Geneva Jefferson, four daughters: Latori Jefferson, Shantae Jefferson, Jimico Slaughter, Lashema (Jevico) Barans, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three sons: Jimmie Lee Jefferson, III, Timmy Jefferson, Tarrell Jefferson, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four sisters: JoAnn Jefferson, Miami, FL; Diane (Larry) Thomas, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Barbara (SB) King and Cherry Tomblin, Nichols, GA; Mother-in-law: Patricia Chandler, Alma, GA; Father-in-law: Sylvester Carter, Dad City, FL; Sister-in-law: Cheryl (Jeremiah) Green, Huntsville, AL; Brothers-in-law: Willie (Crystal) Chandler, Newark, NJ; Otis (Michell) Robinson, Waycross, GA; Christopher (Yolanda) Jones, Husenton, TX; Leray Jones, Hinesville GA; Andrew Jones, Virginia; Danny (Danniel) Wertz, Gary (Cornie) Mikell, Levester (Decian) Stevens, LaWayne Parrish, Tyrone (Niki) Robinson, all of Alma, GA; a special aunt, Elivia Payton, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three uncles, Don Smith, Alma, GA; Samuel Smith and Larry Smith, Pompano Beach, FL; three special friends Ron and July Brown, Alma, GA; Richard Morgan, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, grands, great grands, cousins and other family, and loving friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at the First African Baptist Church, 708 E.12th St, Alma, Ga., Reverend Stephen Deen Pastor funeral arrangements entrusted to Rainge Memorial Chapel, Blackshear, Ga.
