Dea. Tommie Lee Jones was born on February 15, 1949, in Worth County, Sylvester Ga.
He was employed by Scapa/Voight Fabric for 33 years and employed by Rainge Memorial Chapel for 13 years.
He was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon March 1984 at New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Parents: Mr. James B (J.B.) Jones and Mrs. Alberta Coleman Jones (Deceased).
Deceased Brothers: Willie H. Jones, and Leroy Jones.
Tommie married the love of his life Jessie Thompson on June 13, 1969 (God blessed them with 49 years). To this union 3 children were born – Tommy D. Jones, Sr. (Sanya) of Hephzibah, GA, Anita Jones of Jacksonville FL, Sharon Jones Kearney of Albany GA.
4 grandchildren, Tommy D. Jones, Jr., Amber Mooring, Jessica Mooring, Sakila McGruder; 2 great-grandchildren, Kherington Bighams, Georgia McGruder.
3 godchildren: Cornelius Grant of Waycross, Ga, Aisha Shuman of Columbus, SC, Ta’Bius McKnight of Waycross Ga.
Adopted children, Richard Taylor of Waycross GA, Mr. & Mrs. Elzie Marshall (Trenna) of Leesburg Ga.
Sisters: Severa Jones, Yvonne Jones Lattimore (Ernest) of Waycross Ga, Irma Jean Williams (Eddie) of Holly Springs N.C., Dorothy Jones Ferrell of Macon, Ga.
Brother in laws: Wyman Thompson (Sharon) of Albany, Ga, Troy Thompson of Blackshear, Ga., Sister in laws Emma Ferguson of Xenia Ohio, and Edith Thompson of Tallassee, Al.
Extended family: Brother George Wynn and Trease, Mary Jane Williams and family, of Waycross, Ga, Mr. & Mrs. Claude Hunter of Jacksonville, Fl.
He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 12th from 6-8 p.m. at Rainge Memorial Chapel in Blackshear, GA.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, July 13th at 1 p.m. at Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 617 Blackwell, St, Waycross, GA. Bishop John Moss, pastor. Rev. Walter Scott will bring words of comfort.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The cortege will assemble at the residence, 1402 Common, St., at 12:30 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacon Ministry of Friendship M.B.C. Flower bearers will be the Deaconess Ministry of Friendship M.B.C. The active pallbearers will be the staff of Rainge Memorial Chapel. Carlton Rainge- Owner-LFD&EMB.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Rainge Memorial Chapel, Inc. 505 Ware, St. Blackshear, GA.
