Hubert Williams, 81, of Blackshear, passed away early Friday, July 29, 2022, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following a brief illness.

He was born December 3, 1940 in Ocilla to the late Cozie Williams and Carrie Bell Williams. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and enjoyed a long career in the trucking business. He drove trucks for several companies, including Choo-Choo Supply, Olympus and Thom’s Transport, before starting his own business, H. Williams Trucking, as an owner/operator. He retired after 50+ years in the trucking business.

He was a faithful member of Fourth Mount Olive Church where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, trustee and in other capacities before he became ill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta Williams; three sisters, Carrie Pearl Owens, Ruthie Moore, Betty Fletcher and step-son, Scott Edward Howard.

Survivors include his wife, Izella Williams; one daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Anita (Tyrone Sr.) Harris, Blackshear; three sons, Ronnie Williams, Stockbridge, Elder Calvin (Tonia) Williams, Rincon and Gary (Ingrid) Howard, Huntsville, AL;  a daughter-n-law, Wanda Howard, Blackshear; 23 grandchildren, Ronnie Green (Cherise), Chattanooga, TN, Tamias (Janie) Williams, Elizabethtown, KY, Teyonna Jones, Waycross, Tyrone “TJ’ Harris Jr., Waycross, Joshua (April) Harris, Burns, TN, Tynisha Harris, Valdosta, Philp Williams, Kennesaw, Taylor Walters and Callee Walters, both of Johnson City, TN, Artavis Mathis, Atlanta, Latronda Mathis, Ahkeem (Tanesha) Mathis, Sharonda Mathis and Terell Mathis, all of Savannah, Gary A. Howard Jr. and Ismael Howard, both of Huntsville, AL, Shokia Cooper, Grovetown, Dana (Calvin) Speed and Kijana Hyler, both of Blackshear, Demarious “Scottie” Howard, Elizabethtown, KY, Rochelle (William) Weathers, Virginia Beach, VA, Crystal Jones, Ontario, Canada and David Jones, Hampton; 28 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph Williams, Blackshear, Cozell Williams, Alma, Nathaniel (Betty) and John (Dean) Williams; two sisters, Gladys and Debra Williams, all of Douglas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 5,  at Fourth Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 900 Yeomans St., Blackshear.

His service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, from the Fourth Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Pastor Morris Pate will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Moore St.  Blackshear.
