Obituary

life’s demands. For he has a gentle strength and he’s not afraid to try, knowing always who he is
and where he stands.”
A TIME TO BE BORN:
Glenn Tyrone Smith was born August 25, 1961 in New York, NY. His parents were the late
Mildred Brackeen and Charles Clements.

A TIME TO LIVE AND SERVE:
He received his basic education from Bacon County Schools. He enjoyed and loved to spending
time with his family and community. He enjoyed attending the High School and Recreational
sporting events. He also loved serving the community of Alma/Bacon County Recreational
Department coaching all sports. He coached the Bacon County Middle School girls’ basketball
team, also refereeing softball for the recreation department. He was a humble, helpful and had a
very loving spirit. In 2012 he was selected as the Grand Marshall for the Alma/Bacon County
Martin Luther King Parade. He also received the 2012 Community Appreciation Award given by
Women’s Awareness Club in Alma.

A TIME TO LOVE:
He met and married the love of his life, his soulmate, Minnie Gaines on March 28, 1992.

A TIME TO LEAVE:
Glenn was called from labor to his reward on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Memorial Satilla
Health in Waycross. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his son Osric
Reshaude Robinson.
A TIME TO REJOICE:
He leaves special precious memories to his loving wife, Minnie Smith, son: Glenn Darius
Smith; granddaughter: Cahydreonna Jones Smith; his siblings: Greg Smith, Lee (Juanita) Smith,
Thomas (Kenya) Smith, all of Alma, GA; Darryl (Chetina) Brackeen, Hamden, CT; Janie
Williams, Lumber City, GA; goddaughter: Chasity Smith; godsons: Michael Jones, Kalik Smith,
Franklin Elvington and host of other loving family and friends.

A celebration of Life for Glenn Tyrone “Coach Cheese” Smith was held Saturday, July 7 th at Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Alma., Rev. Jaylen Thomas, pastor gave Words of Comfort from 2 Timothy 4:7 “I Have Fought A Good Fight”. The presider was Pastor J. Stephon Deen of First African Baptist Church, Alma. Accolades were given by Morris Madison, Kyle Mercer, Michael Thompson and Reuben Woodbury.
Pallbearers were Justin Blash, Tony Madison, Morris Madison, Anthony Murchinson, Shawn
Philpot, David Smith, George Roberts, and Brandon Smith.
Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Rainge Memorial Chapel, Inc.
